It's been both a challenge and a pleasure cartooning live (virtually) at the COP28, commissioned by the Global Resilience Partnership and the COP Resilience Hub. This was my third year in a row drawing at the COP, and my second in association with the GRP. While governments and international authorities have left many questions and demands unanswered, organizations from around the world have made significant headway this year with diverse, multilateral partnerships, some of which I was fortunate to witness. Diversity made its presence felt, and brought to the table both questions that have never been asked, as well as solutions to problems that have never been solved.
As a cartoonist, it has also been an honour sharing virtual space with a diverse set of artists: musicians, muralists, graphic scribers and illustrators- Joshua Steib, Sahar Saki, Jess Harwood, Sayan Mukherjee, Nayla Pariamachi, Stephanie Heckman, Nelmo Newsong, all adding some much-needed vivacity and pep to discussions and negotiations. A big thanks to Global Resilience Partnership for having us all as artists in residence at the COP Resilience Hub!
