Some of my most favourite bird species are drab and unassuming (this probably has to do with my personal taste in plumage… I mean clothing!). One such species is the Mangrove Whistler. Found only in the Mangrove forests of Sundarbans, Odisha and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands in India (as well as South-east Asia). Heard more often than it is seen, the modest-looking insectivore is known for infusing the air with its plaintive whistles!
