The Koya Tribe and the Gaur
‘Permakore’ the traditional flute of Andhra’s Koya tribe, used to be made from the horns of the Gaur (Indian Bison), an IUCN Vulberable species and the largest wild ox in the world. The tribe has now replaced Gaur horns with palm leaves, taking charge of conserving the species it cohabits with.
