The Newest Wildlife Crime-fighting Superheroes in Town

You might think that 'Herorats' are the lead characters of a new Pixar movie, but these happen to be actual African Giant Pouched Rats, trained by the organization APOPO. Their prolific portfolios include detection of landmines, tuberculosis and wildlife contraband, helping nab illegal trafficking and smugglers at East African ports!

The bad news- the initiative is now facing a dearth of funding, thanks to US fund cuts, which is impacting conservation across the globe.
