Vjosa Norta Airport and Albania's Wildlife
All is Norta okay at Vjosa Norta! An upcoming Albanian airport threatens Europe's first wild river national park, and its wildlife, including Greater Flamingos, Dalmatian Pelicans, several endangered migratory waders, and a host of indigenous flora. While Albania certainly needs another airport for better connectivity and employment, organization PPNEA leading the protest against the destructive airport suggest that other sites could well be considered for it instead of the fragile and biodiverse lagoon-wetland.
