While the accuracy of Colossal Biosciences’ deextinction of the Dire Wolf is being debated on genetic grounds, the consensus among conservationists is that amidst already drastically shortening resources for conservation, and thousands of endangered species in the dire need of conservation funds, funding de-extinction initiatives is rather questionable.
Fascinating topic. Colossal Biosciences' other endeavours have also been in news lately. Its a colossal debate between - to conserve what we have or to fill-in an ecological niche left behind by extinct animals.
ecologist by training here. i was in college when the grey wolf reintroduction started. it has been very successful.
i was ignoring this story but now i’m beyond pissed off.
i hate human beings. i hope we go extinct immediately so the planet can recover.
Thank you for the inputs
Their focus is all wrong IMHO ;)
